Università Cattolica's conference on the human side of digital technologies

On Tuesday 10 May, at the Pius XI Hall of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, the conference Humane Robotics: the human side of digital technologies was held . The initiative, promoted by the Humane Technology Lab, was an opportunity to present "Humane Robotics: A multidisciplinary approach towards the development of humane-centered technologies", the volume edited by Prof. Giuseppe Riva and Prof . Antonella Marchetti.
The event was enriched by the presence of prestigious experts from the world of academia, business and institutions: Msgr. Vincenzo Paglia, President of the Pontifical Academy for Life, Giorgio Metta, Scientific Director of the Italian Institute of Technology, Riccardo Luna, Director of Italian Tech and Green&Blue, and Roberto Vavassori, Chief Officer of Public Affairs and Institutional Relations of Brembo.
The meeting, moderated by Annachiara Sacchi, journalist of Corriere della Sera, provided interesting food for thought on the relationship between man and technology. "We were able to reach an agreement on nuclear weapons, and the same happened with climate change. Now it is urgent that we be able to find an agreement on Artificial Intelligence between Heads of State and Government", said Mgr. Vincenzo Paglia. Riccardo Luna, on the other hand, framed the human-robot relationship by arguing that "robots do not steal our jobs, but if anything they change it to make us live better". A concept also supported by Giorgio Metta, for whom the robot "can to all intents and purposes become a helper of the human being, relieving him of exhausting and repetitive work".
