Artificial Intelligence: do you really know it?

Course for newly enrolled students at Università Cattolica – A.Y. 2025/2026

For the academic year 2025/2026, the Teaching and Learning Lab (TeLeLab) and the Humane Technology Lab (HTLab) are proposing a new edition of the cross-disciplinary course on artificial intelligence (AI), entitled "Artificial Intelligence: do you really know it? Introduction to understanding and using AI responsibly", aimed at newly enrolled students of undergraduate and integrated degree programs at Università Cattolica.

The initiative builds on the pilot project Towards a Smart Future: Foundations of AI for the University Generation and is designed to provide an initial critical and responsible orientation to AI—a technology that is transforming society, professions, and everyday life.

Objectives

  • To provide an up-to-date and multidisciplinary overview of artificial intelligence.
  • Making the core concepts of AI accessible to students across all subject areas.
  • Develop basic operational skills for a conscious use of AI.
  • Promote critical reflection on the ethical, social and economic impact of AI.
  • Foster the ability to assess the limits and potential of AI in different application contexts.

Learning Outcomes

  • Theoretical and technical knowledge
  • Operational skills
  • Interdisciplinary critical thinking
  • Responsible awareness

Structure

The course takes place in person at the Milan campus of Università Cattolica and in live streaming from the Brescia, Cremona, Piacenza and Rome campuses. It includes two editions of 8 hours each, divided into two Saturday mornings (4 hours per session).

At the end of the course, participants who have fully attended the in-person sessions will be issued an Open Badge, which certifies the knowledge and skills acquired.
