Brief profile and history: Università Politecnica delle Marche is a public university based in Ancona, with campuses also in Pesaro, Fermo, Macerata, San Benedetto del Tronto and Ascoli Piceno, all in the Marche region in central Italy. It provides higher education and performs research in five main cultural areas: Agriculture, Economics, Engineering, Medicine and Science. It is a medium-size university with a strong focus on research and innovation as well as on technology transfer.
Founded in 1971under the name University of Ancona, the university had a steady growth and by 2009, had five Faculties and 12 Departments; in 2003 the University of Ancona changed its name to "Università Politecnica delle Marche" to emphasize its role in the Marche region and its vocation towards scientific and technical disciplines. Overall, today (Academic Year 2024/2025) it hosts about 17000 students and offers 66 degree courses, 7 of which are completely taught in English: 34 Bachelor’s Degree (3 years degree), 28 Master’s Degree (2 years degree), 4 Single-cycle courses (6 years degree), plus 10 Ph.D. courses. This offer provides a wide range of opportunities for students.
International presence: Università Politecnica delle Marche offers students, researchers, lecturers and technical-administrative staff from foreign institutes various opportunities to carry out periods of study, research, teaching and training at the Faculties of the University. UNIVPM manages a variety of international didactic initiatives, such as, Erasmus Mundus Joint master’s degree (IMBRSea), Double degrees with several foreign universities and member of the SUNRISE European University Alliance. The university performs also very active in conducting research at European level, through several European projects. Therefore, international students coming to UNIVPM will find a welcoming, open and diversified context.
