Humane Robotics

The Laboratory has completed the book "Humane Robotics. A multidisciplinary approach towards the development of humane-centered technologies". The volume was edited by the Director of HTLab, Giuseppe Riva, and by Professor Antonella Marchetti, member of the Scientific Council, and published by the publishing house of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Vita e Pensiero
The book is organized into four sections that cover four interconnected but at the same time distinct themes. In the first part, the theories and conceptual tools preparatory to the analysis of the Human-Robot Confluence (HRC) are considered, with a particular focus on the current limits of humanoid robots and on the concepts of shared experience and functional autonomy. The second and third sections deal respectively with the role played by cognitive and emotional factors within human-robot interaction and the use of robotics in different fields of application, such as medicine and agriculture. The final section, on the other hand, opens a strategic reflection on the global health, economic, and legal challenges arising from the attempt to achieve a humane, tolerant and compassionate technology towards the individual.
