Curious Minds: Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence for Multidisciplinary Students
A transversal course on the fundamentals of AI for all students of Università Cattolica, by the University Laboratories HTLab and TeLeLab
The course offers an in-depth overview of artificial intelligence (AI), exploring its social, ethical, and legal implications. Divided into four modules, it addresses the history of AI, its practical applications and advanced tools, stimulating critical reflection on the impact of this technology in contemporary society.
Organized by the Teaching and Learning Lab (TeLeLab), the University's laboratory that contributes to educational improvement and innovation, and the Humane Technology Lab (HTLab), the University's laboratory with the aim of investigating the relationship between human experience and technology, the course will be held in presence at the Milan campus of Università Cattolica in six meetings of 4 hours each. for a total of 24 hours, from October to December 2024.
Objectives
- Provide a historical and conceptual understanding of the evolution of AI.
- Develop practical skills in the use of advanced AI tools.
- Promote critical reflection on the social, ethical, and legal implications of AI.
- Explore the applications of AI in multidisciplinary contexts.
- Stimulate debate on AI-related regulatory and policy challenges.
Learning Outcomes
- Understand the historical evolution and development of AI.
- Gain practical skills in using AI tools.
- Critically reflect on the ethical and social implications of AI.
- Examine the legal challenges related to AI regulation.
- Integrate a multidisciplinary perspective to assess the impact of AI in different fields.
Structure
- Duration: 24 hours in total, divided into 6 meetings of 4 hours each.
- Calendar: 26 October, 9, 16, 23, 30 November and 14 December 2024.
- Modalities: in presence, at the Milan campus of Università Cattolica; live streaming at the Brescia, Cremona and Piacenza campuses.
- Registration deadline: Wednesday 23 October 2024.
- Open Badge: it will be issued at the end of the course to participants who have fully attended at least 4 out of 6 face-to-face meetings, to certify the knowledge and skills acquired at the end of the course.
