Bibliographical consultation and consultancy
The Archive is open to the public on Mondays and Tuesdays from 14.30 to 17.30 and on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9.30 to 12.30.
In addition to consultation of books (borrowing books is not allowed), visitors can use the service of support and orientation in bibliographical research.
It is necessary to take an appointment writing an email to archivio.ries@unicatt.it or calling 02.7234.3206.
As well as giving us the outline of the education, interests and technical horizon within which Ries’s thought took shape, in accordance with the Cardinal’s intentions the archive offers itself first of all as a privileged way of access to the necessary foundations for a global study of religions, providing a broad set of instruments (sources, critical literature, encyclopaedias, lexicons, dictionaries) usable both by the student on his or her first approaches to the History of Religions and Religious Anthropology, and by the researcher who needs to have a broad corpus within reach for his or her research. In addition, the presence of specialist texts and rarer materials lends itself to the conducting of studies and research in more specific, detailed sectors. Over time the Archive has consolidated its role as a research centre for scholars from different disciplinary backgrounds, representing a valid tool for degree and doctorate theses in the History of Religions, Religious Anthropology, Philosophical Anthropology, and for national and international researchers who in various capacities need to be able to rely on material that is to a large degree inaccessible elsewhere.
