Red Regional para el Fomento de la Internacionalizacion de la Educacion Superior en America Latina (Regional Network fo the Internationalisation of Higher Education in Latin America)

 

A collaboration between nineteen partners in Europe and Latin America, the Erasmus+ RIESAL project on capacity building in the field of higher education is directed towards the development of the internationalisation of partner higher education institutions in Latin America. The project is coordinated by the Universidad de Guadalajara.

The objective is being pursued through various activities:

  • the development and implementation of e-learning regarding strategies and processes of internationalisation;
  • the study of internationalisation models in use and an analysis of the current situation in the partner universities;
  • the development of an intensive internationalisation training seminar;
  • the creation of a regional observatory on internationalisation of higher education in Latin America;
  • the creation of a database of potential partners for cooperation projects;
  • the publication of a journal on the theme of internationalisation;
  • connecting with partner universities at European Union institutions in order to make agreements for cooperation. 

 

Publication News - June 2019
The RIESAL project has published Buenas prácticas de internacionalización universitaria en América Latina y el Caribe (Good Practices of Higher Education Internationalisation in Latin America and the Caribbean) edited by Jocelyne Gacel Ávila and published by the University of Guadalajara. The publication is available as an e-book.


Online Programme
The first module of the online progamme dealt with Internationalisation Strategies and was delivered by Fiona Hunter (Associate Director of CHEI), Hans de Wit and Elspeth Jones (both members of the CHEI Scientific Committee). Three further modules dealing with International Project Management, Development Cooperation, and Impact and Entrepreneurship have been offered by Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Muenster University of Applied Sciences and the Universidad de Alicante.

Co-funded by the European Union Erasmus+ programme on cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practice, the project concludes in 2019.

The project has held regular webinars.
