Catholic Universities: Identity and Internationalization is a research project launched by the Global Centers for International Higher Education Studies after a meeting held in Santiago, Chile, in January 2016. The three partners involved are the Centre for Higher Education Internationalisation (CHEI) at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, the Center for International Higher Education (CIHE) at Boston College, and the Center for Research on Educational Policy and Practice (CEPPE) at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC).

The outcomes of the first set of case studies carried out within the project have been published in the third issue of Perspectives (2016), a series produced by CIHE. Further more extensive studies are planned as part of the collaboration.

The project will culminate in the publication in 2018 of a book based on the research carried out during the project. A meeting was held in Santiago in November 2017 with the chapter authors from Catholic universities in North and South America, Europe and Asia to present the different cases and finalise the contents and structure of the book.

19-20 April 2018: CHEI doctoral candidate Visnja Schampers-Car is a featured speaker at the thematic forum on Faith-based universities and internationalization: Balancing mission and market realities, held by the Center for International Higher Education (CIHE) at Boston College together with the Association of International Education Administrators (AIEA). CHEI Associate Director Fiona Hunter is also speaking.
